Sieve Analysis — Particle Size Distribution for Paprika¶
1. Purpose & Scope¶
Sieve analysis quantifies the particle size distribution (PSD) of ground paprika powder or crushed flakes. PSD directly affects flowability, extraction rate, color dispersion, and mouthfeel in the final application.

2. Equipment¶

3. Procedure¶
3.1 Assemble sieve stack in ascending mesh order (coarsest on top, finest on bottom) over receiving pan. 3.2 Weigh 100 g (±0.1 g) sample into top sieve. 3.3 Place cover on top sieve, secure stack on shaker. 3.4 Shake for 10 minutes at standard amplitude. 3.5 Weigh each sieve fraction + receiving pan content. 3.6 Report as percentage retained on each sieve.
